Purpose of the position:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overall financial management, audit and compliance, reporting, stakeholder management and staff management. This role focuses primarily on Centres for Disease Control (CDC) projects within the organisation
Minimum Requirements CA (SA) and at least 3 years’ experience in finance, accounting, budgeting and management; or equivalent combination of education and experienceAt least 2 years post articles experienceKnowledge of financial accounting systems (e.g. SAP)PEPFAR audit experience will be a great advantageAbility to work with and create financial modelling tools within Microsoft Excel (advanced)Report writingClear credit and criminal recordAbility to communicate in EnglishValid code 08 driver’s licenceDuties and Responsibilities
Financial management and accounting
Supervise and manage project bookkeeping including cashbook processing and journalsEnsure the preparation of bank reconciliations and reviewsProvide oversight and compliance on project debit cards, staff debtors and expense claimsEnsure all funder and statutory deadlines are metProvide financial management support to programme directorsProvide assistance to departments for finance-related activitiesReview and release electronic payments and transfersEnsure completeness and accuracy of the fixed asset registerOverall responsibility of the financial management / trial balance as allocatedAuditing and compliance
Ensure accurate accounting for VATOverall responsibility for the preparation and execution of all fund related audits (internal and external)Assists with preparation and execution of statutory auditsCash flow management
Ensure adequate cash-flow managementEnsure loan account and inter account transfers are doneReporting and budgeting
Ensure all monthly expense claims and financial reporting are prepared and submitted to funders on timeProvide insight to senior management, board and external parties through review of financial reporting for projectsEnsure that all reports are reconciled to the underlying financial systemStakeholder management
Maintain and build relationships with internal and external stakeholdersPeople management
Ensure high level plans are communicated and assigned to the teamEngage in the performance review processSkills and Competencies
