Role overview

The role responsibilities will be split between 80/20 for Payroll and Corporate Accounting/Bookkeeping. The desired candidate will be required to oversee the end to end process from payroll to financial accounting.

Requirements

• A financial educational background such as bachelor's degree in Finance, Tax, Accounting or relevant field
• 1-2 years’ experience of relevant payroll and/or accounting experience
• Experience in African countries such as, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Senegal, Rwanda or Côte d'Ivoire
• Strong numbers acumen, analytical and a working knowledge of excel and google sheets
• Strong reconciliation and analysis skills
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to identify inconsistencies and challenge numbers
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to improve processes and drive efficiencies
• Experience in being able to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
• Strong communication and presentation skills Resilient and able to adapt to a changing work environment
• Takes pride in producing work deliverables to a high technical standard
• Must be proactive, eager to learn and adherence to company principles and values
• Previous experience in Cryptocurrency - advantageous
• Previous experience in Fin Tech - advantageous

Responsibilities

• Maintaining centralized payroll records
• Calculation of monthly payroll, including but not limited to, bonuses and allowances
• Monthly end-to-end processing of Africa-wide payrolls
• Liaising with external payroll and tax advisors
• Processing month end payroll journals
• Ensuring monthly and annual payroll returns are compliant, accurate, filed, paid and tracked
• Producing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all payroll related balance sheet GL Accounts
• Internal reporting for payroll approval
• Working closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of the monthly payroll process
• Identifying payroll issues and use various tools and techniques to provide suggestions on how to solve them
• Continuous maintenance and improvement of templates and standard operating procedures.
• Assisting with ad hoc accounting processes
