Utilities Engineer

Role Overview

The Utilities Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimising utilities infrastructure across FPG’s commercial property portfolio and development projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient utility design, cost management, compliance, and sustainability across assets.

? Key Responsibilities

Oversee utilities infrastructure across commercial property developments (electrical, water, sewer, stormwater, backup power, etc.)

Provide engineering input during property development feasibility, design, and construction phases

Manage service providers, consultants, and contractors

Optimise energy and water consumption across the portfolio

Drive sustainability and cost-efficiency initiatives

Ensure regulatory compliance and municipal approvals

Support budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure planning

Conduct risk assessments and ensure operational reliability of utilities infrastructure

? Minimum Requirements

Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical)

Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in:

Property development

Commercial property environment

Utilities infrastructure (electrical, civil services, bulk services)

Strong understanding of municipal regulations and approvals

Experience working on large-scale commercial or retail property projects

Financial acumen with exposure to capex planning and cost control

Strong stakeholder management and contractor oversight experience

? Advantageous

Professional registration (ECSA)

Experience with in a REIT or listed property fund

Exposure to renewable energy or sustainability initiatives
