Eligibility- A BEng or BSc (Eng) Civil Engineering Degree
- Post‑graduate degree in Coastal Engineering (preferred)
- Professionally registered engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
- 8–10 years relevant post‑qualification experience at an appropriate Level
- Experience in managing medium to large‑scale coastal projects from design and inception to close‑out; proven experience in the preparation and presentation of business cases for Capital Projects
- Experience with in a local government environment; knowledge of the City’s financial, contractual and internal governance processes (Stage Gates) deemed advantageous
- Computer literacy: MS Office
- A valid Code B driver’s licence
- Provide a framework to guide the management and execution of all Coastal Capital Programme and Projects (CPP), and manage and coordinate strategic cases for the implementation of the CPP Management Framework to ensure consistent, and high‑quality delivery of CPPs by aligning all initiatives with organisational goals, optimising resource use, and enabling informed decision‑making through a unified management framework.
- Provide professional guidance and oversight to ensure the effective planning, coordination and implementation of CPP.
- Oversee coastal infrastructure design in line with specific skills and experience within the Coastal Engineering and Infrastructure unit, as well as input and guidance into development approvals to ensure that the City takes over sustainable infrastructure from developers.
- Manage the formulation of specific contracts and tender documentation and control contractual obligations to ensure contractual terms and conditions entered into and agreed to, are complied with and specific responsibilities discharged with an acceptable level of risk to the City.
