Marine Engineer

Summary

Our client in the Marine Industry is seeking to employ a Marine Engineer to join their team. This is a fixed-term contract.

Location:

Cape Town Harbour.

• Oversee technical operations of the vessel.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment.
• Implement procedures for marine structural integrity and safety.
• Design vessels and structures, considering factors like buoyancy and stability.
• Conduct tests on marine engines and equipment to ensure they operate safely and effectively.
• Prepare reports and documentation to support vessel maintenance and operation.
• Knowledge of CAD software to create detailed plans and schematics.
• Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs to extend the life of vessels and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with maritime safety standards and environmental regulations.

• National Senior Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
• Technical skills: strong technical skills in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Proficiency in engineering principles, marine systems and safety regulations.
• Problem solving abilities for troubleshooting and resolving engineering issues.
• Communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, stakeholders and technical teams.
• Knowledge in marine design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Ship Constructor, ANSYS, Maxsurf and Solid Works.
