• Liaise and report regularly to the Executive Manager or designated project lead.
• Procure professional sub‑service providers and manage their performance.
• Coordinate and supervise design production and reporting by support staff.
• Work within a team on airfield and road pavement investigations, desktop studies, and pavement analyses.
• Schedule and coordinate laboratory and on‑site investigations and testing.
• Produce ad‑hoc pavement designs and design reports for multiple concurrent projects.
• Prepare tender documentation, including specifications, conditions of contract, and bills of quantities.
• Contribute to technical innovation to enhance engineering efficiency and design quality.
• Attend client and technical meetings and prepare meeting minutes when required.
• Review subcontractor tenders, quotations, and tender evaluation documentation.
• Review and finalise contractor monthly payment certificates and reporting.
• Verify contractor daily plant, equipment, and production rates on site.
• Compile estimated final project costs and update financials monthly.
• Oversee project financial management and reporting.
• Administer contracts during construction and project close‑out stages.
• Compile or review close‑out reports.
• Review as‑built data and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage contractual claims and disputes.
• Maintain ongoing client liaison, including meetings and reporting requirements.
• Manage the technical output of direct reports.
• Supervise and support direct reports.
• Mentor graduate engineers, technologists, and technicians.
• Pursue continued professional development through training, seminars, and courses.
• Participate in professional organisations for networking, marketing, and industry recognition.
• Stay updated on developments in construction materials, mix designs, seal designs, and construction methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, the company’s Business Management System, and the Project Management Online Guide, including ensuring team compliance.

• BSc / BEng / BTech in Civil engineering with Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

• 8 – 10 years’ experience in the civil consulting engineering industry.
• At least 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience (after obtaining professional registration) as a Contracts Engineer on road / runway / taxiway rehabilitation and/or new surfaced roads projects.
• Extensive experience in the use of SAICE GCC and FIDIC forms of contract.
• 2-3 years’ experience in pavement design and pavement investigations.
• Capabilities in Pavement modelling software (Rubicon, Farr Field, etc.).
• Experience in NEC and JBCC.
• Ability to travel locally and in Africa for extended periods of time as and when required.
• Valid South African driver’s license (minimum Code
  
  B) without restrictions.
• Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Projects, other Contract Management tools (C-COM, in-house tools, etc).
