Civil Engineer; Release

We are a renewable energy company that has been developing and deploying a unique, flexible leasing solution of pre‑assembled and modular solar and battery equipment for the mining and utilities market. With recent funding from Climate Fund Managers, we are expanding our global team and powering electrification across Africa.

The company is looking for a Civil Engineer to work from Cape Town, South Africa. The role supports projects across all phases—from feasibility to lease—by enhancing the organization’s civil engineering capabilities to meet business objectives.

• Participate in project stakeholders’ coordination related to the civil engineering and site preparation scope of work.
• Assist with the development of in‑house civil engineering expertise and continuous improvement of system processes, documentation, specifications, templates, tools, and reporting.
• Evaluate site studies in conjunction with the business and technical development teams, participate in desktop studies (topology and hydro analysis) during the opportunity phase, and evaluate geotechnical, hydrological and topographical studies during feasibility and pre‑design stages.
• Conduct site visits to verify on‑site conditions throughout project development.
• Design civil works: coordinate the interface between civil and PV plant design during preliminary design to achieve an optimised detail design (which is subsequently subcontracted during execution).
• Investigate local rates and resource availability, ensuring plant and material compliance with in‑country norms, standards and specifications.
• Support both technical development and project management functions with civil work deliverables.
• Guide consultants or contractors executing site studies during the development phase.
• Manage consultants and contractors responsible for detail civil design and site preparation works.
• Participate in technical reviews of deliverables from consultants, covering inception, feasibility, hydro, preliminary and detail design phases.
• Prepare works for the plant, whether produced in‑house or via external consultants.
• Provide ad‑hoc civil engineering support to Project Engineering Leads and product engineering teams when civil‑technology integration is required (e.g., equipment foundations).
• Report to management and the Release committee on technical deliverables, challenges, risks and opportunities.

• Technical Development:
  Assist the team with feasibility and development civil scope of work within projects co‑led with business development/sales.
• Implementation:
  Work closely with Project Engineering Leads and Project Managers to deliver civil engineering deliverables.
• Business Development:
  Limited direct interaction; client or contractor meetings involving civil works may be organized by BD&S.
• Procurement and Logistics:
  Collaborate with civil engineering consultants and contractors on scope, contracting, specifications and RFP/RFQ documentation.
• Project Management:
  Drive technical deliverables and support projects with civil engineering needs.
• Project Planning:
  Provide estimated construction time and resource requirements related to civil engineering and site preparation scope.
• Document Control:
  Organise all documents, tools, specifications and related assets for civil engineering work.
• Quality Control:
  Identify potential civil quality risks and assist the QC team in formulating inspection requirements.
• Technical Asset Management:
  Investigate and suggest remedies for site civil challenges during the lease phase (e.g., soil erosion).

• Civil Engineering Degree /
  
  B.Eng (ECSA Registration ideal).
• 5+ years of civil engineering experience.
• 5+ years of EPC/construction projects experience.
• 3+ years renewable energy sector experience (mainly solar PV; BESS experience is an advantage).
• Proficiency with design software and tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS software, Google Earth).
• Excellent MS Office Suite knowledge and good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat (or similar PDF app).
