The SAE Institute, Cape Town Campus, is looking for an Animation Lecturer to facilitate learning for the Motion Graphics and Visual Effects /2D programmes, with a focus on practical application, theoretical frameworks, workflow and technique.
Facilitation in accordance with the learning outcomes as set for the animation
programme, with a focus on practical application, theoretical frameworks, workflow
and technique.
• Mentor students, conduct consultations and facilitate learning opportunities.
• Research relevant content in order to develop learning material and lesson plans.
• Evaluation, moderation, invigilation and assessment of learning.
• Keep accurate records of evidence (e.g. attendance, assessment results).
• Adhere to SAE policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by the HOA.
RequirementsExperience, Education and
Competency:
• Minimum NQF Level 8 qualification (BAHonours)
• A Master’s Degree is preferable.
• A PGCHE is advantageous.
• The successful candidate must show evidence of good subject- and discipline-related
skills and be able to facilitate the range of learning required within the subject of 2D
animation.
• Substantial experience in the field of 2D animation. (Min. 3 years).
• Facilitation of learning experience (Advantageous)
• Proficient with industry-standard equipment and software including Toonboom, After
Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Classroom management and workshop facilitation skills: A minimum of two years’
recent experience in an academic or training environment preferred.
• Be able to execute and facilitate the normal day-to-day demands of lecturing, lesson
planning, delivery, assessment, administration, student support and review.
• Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, administration skills, be
highly organised and possess good time management skills.
• Ability to develop and conduct appropriate practical and theoretical assessments as
well as teaching and learning materials pertinent to modules.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• The ideal candidate would also be expected to exhibit a sound understanding of
narrative and storyboard practice, as well as concept art.
• Collaborative and willing to work with fellow lecturers and the HOA to support
students.
• Must have rights to live and work in South Africa
