Job Purpose

To focus on learning, teaching and assessment of Financial Accounting and Taxation subjects, and contribute to curriculum development at programme and subject levels.

  • Teach undergraduate programmes as well as Advanced and Postgraduate Diplomas.
  • Support the department and faculty to enhance the effectiveness of the academic project, including academic initiatives and community engagement.
  • Support departmental and faculty research initiatives through undertaking research and contributing towards research objectives.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A Master's degree in Financial Accounting and/or Taxation or equivalent (Management Accounting or Auditing).
  • An underpinning degree or equivalent with a focus on Financial Accounting and/or Taxation.
  • At least two (2) years full‑time lecturing experience in a higher education environment.
  • Recommended: Knowledge and experience of hybrid teaching models (face‑to‑face and online).
  • Evidence of research and publications is recommended.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Teaching and Learning
    :
    Lectures subjects, compiles subject guides, uses appropriate teaching methods, develops learning materials, assists students, and may adjust workload per departmental needs.
  • Accreditation
    :
    Adhere to Council of Higher Education accreditation policies and procedures.
  • Academic Management
    :
    Contribute to policy making, set annual objectives for programmes and subjects, review teaching and learning, and act as course leader.
  • Administration
    :
    Maintain attendance registrars, progress reports, record learner results, assist with registration, supervise tests and examinations, and moderate assessments.
  • Community Service & Outreach
    :
    Integrate community interventions into curriculum.
  • Quality Assurance
    :
    Participate in committee meetings, submit relevant documents, monitor QA recommendations, and implement interventions.
  • Recruitment / Admissions / Marketing
    :
    Plan and attend “Open Day” events.
  • Personal / Professional Development
    :
    Keep abreast of developments in the field and professional conduct, register with professional bodies, and engage in current professional activities.
  • Human Resources Management
    :
    Use the University performance management system and identify training needs.
  • Industry Advisory Board and Partnerships
    :
    Liaise with commerce and industry on experiential training, new techniques, and research projects.

    Conduct research, supervise and lecture postgraduate students, publish research articles, and stay updated with professional literature.
