We are seeking a creative and driven Political and Popular Educator to design and implement educational programmes that strengthen grassroots leadership, movement building, and community empowerment. This role combines curriculum development, program facilitation, and strategic education planning.
Salary:
From R410,000 up to R456,000 per annum (cost to company), depending on experience, skills, and organisational requirements. The package includes a basic salary and employer contributions to medical aid and a retirement annuity.
- Develop engaging and relevant curriculums for social movements and community partners.
- Design educational materials, pamphlets, and other creative support tools.
- Unpack strategic litigation and research findings for leaders and members in accessible ways.
- Ensure materials are inclusive, creative, and strategically aligned with campaigns.
- Collaborate with NU staff, management, and movement leaders to identify education opportunities and implement mandates.
- Identify individuals, groups, and structures suitable for targeted education interventions.
- Support community partners in building relationships with organisations that can provide additional learning resources.
- Inform public education efforts and campaigns for the organisation.
- Develop cohorts of active members capable of advancing movement building through education.
- Organise and facilitate educational interventions, including venue booking, transport, and catering.
- Manage programs and provide feedback on interventions.
- Facilitate reading groups and internal learning seminars.
- Investigate and explore training and learning opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with mentors and key educational organisations.
- Assist in coordinating task teams and meeting facilitation.
- Support work plan implementation for community and movement partners.
- Experience in curriculum development, content creation, or education facilitation.
- Strong understanding of community organising and grassroots leadership development.
- Excellent organisational, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Creativity in designing materials and programs for diverse audiences.
