Overview
FEDISA, a DHET-registered and CHE-accredited private higher education provider, is seeking an Innovation Lab Technician to support innovation, prototyping, and technical learning across its fashion and design programmes.
This hands-on role focuses on managing the day-to-day operations of the Innovation Lab, including the maintenance and safe use of digital fabrication equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, vinyl plotters, heat presses, and screen-printing tools. The role also provides technical and instructional support to staff and students during workshops, studio sessions, and project development.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Innovation Lab and ensure safe, efficient use of equipment.
- Maintain and operate digital fabrication tools (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, vinyl plotters, heat presses, screen-printing tools).
- Provide technical and instructional support to staff and students during workshops, studio sessions, and project development.
- Diploma or Degree in Product/Industrial Design, Fashion Technology, Engineering, or related field
- Experience with digital fabrication tools and prototyping workflows
- Working knowledge of design software (e.g. Illustrator, Fusion 360, Rhino, Cura)
- Experience in an educational or creative studio environment
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and a safety-conscious approach
