Graphic Designer at Surplus People Project

Surplus People Project (SPP) is seeking a Graphic Designer to support our communications and advocacy work focused on land justice, agroecology and food sovereignty in South Africa. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Communications Coordinator to produce high-quality visual material for SPP’s campaigns, publications and public-facing platforms. This role is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to grassroots struggles for land, food and dignity, while strengthening the public voice of a long-standing social justice organisation.
Roles and Responsibilities- Laying out annual reports, research briefs and organisational publications
- Designing social media graphics, posters, flyers and campaign material
- Supporting events, workshops and advocacy work with strong visual content
- Maintaining visual consistency across SPP’s platforms and outputs
- Has solid graphic design skills (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or similar)
- Has experience with document layout and print-ready files
- Can work independently, meet deadlines and respond to feedback
- Has an interest in social justice, land rights, agroecology or community-based work
