We are looking for a dynamic and organized Investor Relations & Research Lead to manage and grow our investor community and startup pipeline. You will serve as a key point of contact for venture capital firms, angel investors, and startups engaged in Afric Arise and the DCA investor network. This role involves onboarding, communication, ecosystem mapping, and data management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Investor Engagement & Network CoordinationSupport the onboarding of new investors to the DCA network and Afric Arise programs
Maintain and update investor CRM/contact lists, ensuring quality segmentation and tagging
Coordinate investor communications including newsletters, dealflow sharing, and round tables
Organize and facilitate B2B investor-startup matchmaking activities
Act as a liaison between investors and internal program teams
2. Community ManagementManage communications and updates to the DCA investor Whats App and Linked In groups
Coordinate ecosystem updates, investment opportunity alerts, and internal reports
Monitor engagement and provide periodic feedback on community activity
3. Support Event ExecutionSupport investor-related sessions and networking events during Afric Arena Summits and Bootcamps
Prepare investor and startup briefings for physical and virtual events
Liaise with communications team for promotional assets and event content
Actively promote DCA and Afric Arena programs, events, and partnership opportunities to relevant investors and relevant ecosystem stakeholders.
Support investor focused lead generation and conversion activities, including outreach, follow-ups, and onboarding.
Communicate the value proposition of our programs to attract high-quality investor applications and drive investor stakeholder engagement.
Collaborate with the marketing and partnerships team to improve program visibility and optimize outreach funnels for investors.
5. Ecosystem Research & Data AnalysisSupport the development of Afric Arena’s ecosystem reports, benchmarks, and trend papers
Conduct research on sectors (e.g. fintech, climate tech, edtech), markets, and policy frameworks
Assist in gathering and organizing data from interviews, surveys, and secondary sources
Produce insights, charts, and short write-ups for use in internal reports, newsletters, and public publications
Monitor startup funding trends, investor activity, and innovation policy in Africa
Requirements Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business, Economics, International Relations, Entrepreneurship, or related field
1–3 years of professional experience in ecosystem building, investment, startups, or innovation spaces
Comfortable presenting program benefits and value to diverse stakeholders (founders, investors, partners)
Ability to identify and act on opportunities to grow program participation and partner engagement
Skills and competencies required
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English (French is a plus)
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
- Proactive and resourceful—able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable with digital tools like Google Workspace (google sheets/excel is a must), Canva, Wix (and WIX CRM system).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and inspire action.
- Sales-oriented mindset with a track record (or potential) of converting leads into participants, clients, or users
