What is the role?

We are looking for a Financial Statements Specialist to join our growing team in Cape Town.

In this role, you will be responsible for drafting Annual Financial Statements for Iridium clients, based on the year-end accounting work completed by our monthly accounting teams.

This role reports directly to the Technical Manager (Tax and Financial Statements) and works closely with the accounting teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely delivery of AFS.

• The drafting, coordination, and completion of Annual Financial Statements for a portfolio of clients.
• Reviewing and quality-checking internally prepared financial statements for compliance with IFRS / IFRS for SMEs. On an ad hoc basis: supporting month-end close processes, including review of trial balances, general ledger accounts and key reconciliations.
• Applying IFRS / IFRS for SMEs in practice, with exposure to new and updated reporting standards (advantageous).
• Assisting with project work and process improvements within the Financial Statements function.
• Supporting the monthly accounting teams by resolving AFS-related queries and improving the quality of year-end packs.

Minimum requirements:

• BCom Accounting (or similar qualification).
• 3+ years of relevant experience in drafting Annual Financial Statements.
• Experience working in cloud-based accounting systems (e.g. Xero).
• Experience drafting Annual Financial Statements using Case Ware or Draft Workx.
• Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace or Microsoft Office 365 (especially Excel/Sheets).

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Clear and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
• Comfortable working with startups and small businesses in a fast-moving environment.
• Willingness to learn, improve, and take ownership of your work.

• Professional designation (SAIPA / SAICA / CIMA/CGMA).
