Job overview:

My client, a leading Accounting Firm, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team in Cape Town.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of annual financial statements (from source documents or trial balances)
  • Preparation of management accounts for a portfolio of clients
  • Preparation of accounting records from client-provided documentation
  • Completion and submission of company and trust income tax returns and VAT returns
  • Engage with clients professionally on deliverables and planning matters
  • Monitor budges and timelines for each engagement

    • Minimum requirements:

  • BCom Accounting degree or suitable equivalent (compulsory)
  • At least 5 years’ post-article experience (SAICA or SAIPA)
  • Software experience:
    Caseware Working Papers, Pastel, Sage, Xero, Great Soft, MS Office Suite
  • Experience in a small to medium sized accounting firm
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting and tax legislation and its applications
  • Confident liaising with clients on financial and tax related matters
  • Ability to engage in tax planning to support efficient structuring and compliance
  • Familiarity with preparing and submitting annual tax and VAT returns

    • Required skills and Attributes:

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in English
  • High level of literacy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
  • Self-manged and able to take initiative when needed
  • Confident and professional in client interactions
  • Team player who collaborates effectively across departments

    • Salary:

    Market related, commensurate with experience and skill level.
