Intermediate Bookkeeper/Accountant

SalaryR25k - R28k CTC – Negotiable on experience
Job SummaryCareer opportunity in the Travel/Tourism sector; join a young, dynamic, energetic team based in Green Point area. Play a crucial role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the financial health of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Record daily financial transactions accurately in accounting software.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are properly documented.
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts promptly; reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Monitor and categorize expenses; assist in preparing expense reports for management review.
- Prepare and file VAT returns and other tax submissions in compliance with regulations; assist with audits.
- Process employee payroll, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments; maintain records of hours, benefits, and deductions.
- Generate financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements; provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
- Support senior accountants with year‑end financial preparations; ensure all financial documentation is well‑organized and easily accessible.
- Matric + relevant Financial Diploma/Degree in Accounting (advantageous).
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience; experience in the tourism industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Advanced Excel, and accounting software (Xero, Quick Books optional); system training on Tourplan will be provided.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
