Gardens, Cape Town Office based | R35 000 to R45 000 (Dependent on experience)

Our client is a respected and long-standing UK accountancy firm with a reputation for quality service and client retention. With offices in Omagh and Cape Town, they specialise in providing bookkeeping and VAT services to both UK and ROI businesses. Their Cape Town office plays a crucial role in delivering consistent, high-standard support to clients abroad.

The Role:

Bookkeeper
This is a full-time, office-based position for the first year, after which it may transition to a hybrid setup. The role involves handling a wide range of bookkeeping tasks and ensuring timely and accurate VAT submissions for UK and ROI companies. You'll be part of a supportive team responsible for maintaining accurate records and meeting compliance standards using cloud-based software.

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a bookkeeping role

  • Process sales and purchase invoices, cheque payments, direct debits, and transfers

  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records

  • Complete monthly and quarterly VAT returns (UK and ROI)

  • Enter data into accounting software, primarily cloud-based systems

  • Use Excel to support reporting and financial tracking

  • Assist with general financial admin tasks as needed

About You

  • Recent experience in a bookkeeping position

  • National Senior Certificate with passes in English and Mathematics (50% or above)

  • Experience using computerised accounts packages (Xero experience preferred)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Strong numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail

  • Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills

  • Team player with a proactive mindset
