Responsibilities
  • Operate trucks equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal, and bituminous paving materials, or a lowboy trailer for transporting equipment.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection checklists on equipment (tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water).
  • Handle paperwork concerning Department of Transportation regulations, freight weigh bills, fuel tickets, and load tickets.
  • Carry out detailed instructions, take directions to job sites, and use good judgement in decision-making; work without direct supervision.
  • Operate the vehicle safely in traffic and follow the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Operate and load/off-load all types of heavy equipment on a lowboy as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with Department of Transportation rules and regulations for transporting heavy equipment.

Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (No endorsements are required).
  • All drivers are required to be Department of Transportation certified.
  • All drivers must have a valid D.O.T. physical examination with proof in the form of a wallet card and a letter-sized form, both signed by a medical examiner. This physical examination will also serve as a requirement for commercial driver’s license in any class.
