Description:

Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis.
Establishes nursing care objectives.
Defines nursing interventions.
Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
Ensures understanding of patient conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
Notes changing conditions and needs, re-evaluating care objectives.
Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards and healthcare organization policies.
Maintains cooperative relationships among healthcare team members.
Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and legal regulations.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Protects healthcare organization value by maintaining confidentiality.
Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
Monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Instructs individuals and families on topics such as health education and disease prevention.
Provides patient care by reviewing provider orders and communicating the nursing care plan.
Confers with providers to coordinate patient care.
