Description:

Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses.

Establishes nursing care objectives.

Defines nursing interventions for patients.

Provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.

Notes changing conditions and needs of patients.

Re-evaluates care objectives regularly.

Assures quality care by adhering to professional standards and organizational policies.

Maintains cooperative relationships among healthcare team members.

Ensures a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by following infection control protocols.

Adheres to medication administration and storage procedures along with controlled substance regulations.

Documents patient care services by charting in patient records.

Protects patient information confidentiality.

Monitors, records, and reports symptoms or changes in patients' conditions to appropriate healthcare team members.

Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.

Modifies patient treatment plans based on responses and conditions.

Instructs individuals and families on health education and disease prevention.

Reviews provider orders and communicates the nursing care plan to other healthcare team members.

Maintains standards of professional nursing care and resolves patient issues by conferring with involved parties.

Promotes a culture of safety by being aware of patients' safety needs.

Acts as a patient advocate by voicing concerns when necessary.

Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and examining patients.

Documents patients' physical condition, psychological status, and social factors.

Confers with family members for comprehensive care planning.

Administers medications, wound care, and personalized interventions while monitoring reactions.

Prepares patients for exams and assists with necessary procedures.

Explains procedures and treatments to alleviate apprehension and ensure understanding.

Demonstrates IV therapy competency, including care for central lines.

Recognizes adverse signs and symptoms, reacting quickly in emergencies.

Provides appropriate supervision and delegation of duties to unlicensed personnel.

Assures compliance with accreditation standards regarding patient safety goals.

Performs other specified duties as assigned for patient care and unit-specific competencies.

Other duties may be required to support organizational goals and mission.
