Position SummaryThe Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of MWHC, ensuring the effective delivery of consulting services to rural health clinics (RHC) and healthcare organizations. The COO translates MWHC’s strategic vision into operational execution, drives scalability, and ensures quality and consistency across engagements. supports sustainable growth while maintaining the firm’s mission to strengthen rural healthcare. The COO works closely with the CEO and department directors for organizational growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership and Management
- Oversee daily operations of consulting services, internal departments and client engagements.
- Work closely with managers in the department of clinic development to establish and maintain clients
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and performance standards
- Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across all client projects
- Monitor operational efficiency and recommend process improvements
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and accreditation requirements, including HIPAA privacy and security
Client Service & Delivery
- Ensure client engagements meet contractual requirements, timelines, and quality expectations
- Support consultants in managing complex or high-impact client relationships
- Address operational risks, client escalations, and performance issues proactively
- Maintain a deep understanding of rural health clinic operations, reimbursement, and compliance challenges
Financial & Resource Management
- Partner with the Finance team on financial performance and budgeting
- Optimize resource allocation to maximize effectiveness and sustainability
- Monitor operational expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
People & Culture Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop directors and managers
- Foster a culture of high-performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of high-performing staff
- Support talent development and leadership capacity building
- Ensure clear role definitions, workflows, and communication across departments
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure internal operations and consulting practices align with healthcare regulations and best practices (e.g., CMS, HRSA, RHC requirements)
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Support quality assurance and documentation standards
Consulting Clients & External Relations
- Network with potential and existing RHC and credentialing clients
- Represent MWHC as needed in meetings and seminars
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a Healthcare field
- 3+ years of progressive rural health clinic experience
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance environments relevant to rural health clinics
- Management experience overseeing employees in different departments
- Strong operational management skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and improvement initiatives
Preferred
- Prior experience in healthcare consulting
- Deep knowledge of rural healthcare reimbursement, compliance, and operational challenges
