Southeast Behavioral Hospital is excited to begin offering a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services to the people of Southeast Missouri. The 102‑bed facility provides mental, emotional, and behavioral health services for children, teens, adults, and seniors experiencing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and co‑occurring substance use issues. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River in the Cape Girardeau region, the hospital serves a 40‑mile radius of the community.
QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) ensures patient safety. The Lead MHT assists the Chief Nursing Officer with planning and oversight of the MHT patient care role and overall goal of facilitating continuous and safe patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling. Under the oversight of the Nurse Educator, the Lead MHT is responsible for the primary training, preceptorship, and mentorship of the MHTs throughout the facility.
Education:
High School Degree or equivalent, Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Experience:
Three (3) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness preferred. At least one year of experience coaching and developing other staff members in psychiatric patient care techniques or performing similar duties at the facility is required.
Licensure/
Certifications:
Successful completion of approved Basic Life Support and approved Crisis Prevention & Behavioral Management training. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation.
Additional Requirements:
Obtain and maintain certification as an instructor/facilitator for Verbal De‑escalation, Aggression Management, CPR/BLS or other duties above and beyond the MHT requirements. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
