Location: Cape Girardeau, MO
Base Pay: $16.38/hour
Shift Differentials- Evening shift: +$0.50 per hour
- Overnight shift: +$1.00 per hour
- PRN – As needed, typically 1 shift/week

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or HSE.
- Preference for candidates with at least two years’ experience in the Healthcare or Mental Health field, or with an undergraduate degree.
- Must hold or obtain, by start date, a Missouri Class E driver’s license (Illinois residents may use Class
D). Proof of continuous auto insurance, meeting CCC Motor Vehicle Record Standards Policy, and reliable transportation are required.
Note:
The Class E license is obtained by a written test; no driving test is required. After passing, transfer the license at the Missouri Department of Revenue.

As a BHT you oversee clients’ safety and mental well‑being, as well as the physical plant facilities. You assist clients with skill building, participate in group and social activities, and intervene during crisis situations. Success requires strong communication skills, modeling positive behavior, and promoting client‑centered treatment.
Essential Functions- Provide care that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma‑informed approach.
- Educate clients about activities of daily living, household management, and self‑care responsibilities.
- Teach functional living skills such as anger management, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation, and emotional coping.
- Collaborate closely with the treatment team to coordinate client care services.
- Complete and chart client observations per agency policy and procedure.
- Conduct ongoing checks, including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks.
- Provide protective oversight, monitor client condition, and follow policy for medical emergencies or elopement.
- Transport clients to and from appointments when needed.
- Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations.
- Distribute and document medication per agency policy; report errors immediately.
- Document per clinical policies, DMH, CARF, and other federal or state program requirements.
