Dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Studies: The Dean will be an innovative leader providing strategic vision and direction. As chief administrative officer and academic leader, the Dean sets long‑term goals for academic excellence and operational effectiveness, working closely with faculty, staff, and students. The Dean champions innovation in teaching, research, and community engagement, fosters partnerships within and beyond the university, and adopts an entrepreneurial approach to developing new programs and enhancing existing ones with a strong focus on experiential learning.

The Dean ensures alignment with institutional priorities and positions the college to adapt to changes in education, health, and human services sectors.

College Overview: The college comprises seven departments:
Child and Family Studies;
Communication Disorders;
Elementary, Early, and Special Education;
Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sports Sciences;
Leadership, Middle, and Secondary Education;
Nursing; and Psychology and Counseling. Approximately 150 faculty and staff serve nearly 1,800 undergraduate majors and 480 graduate students. Programs emphasize classroom instruction and practical field experience. Five professional centers— the Edvolution Center, Autism Center, Center for Speech and Hearing, University School for Young Children, and Lift for Life Academy charter school—support the college’s mission.

Specialized accreditations include Apple Distinguished School status, ACEND, CAA‑ASHA, CAATE, CCNE, COSMA, CACREP, NRPA/COAPRT, Missouri State Board of Nursing, NAEYC, NCFR/CFLE, COARC, and additional national and state recognitions.

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or a clinically based doctorate) in an education, health, psychological, or related field represented among the college’s departments, earned from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Record of accomplishment consistent with appointment as a tenured, full professor within the college.
  • Distinguished teaching experience and scholarly achievement.
  • Significant administrative and leadership experience, including program accreditation and assessment.
  • Commitment to collegiality and shared governance.
  • Ability to maintain and strengthen ties with educational, social service, and health‑related communities.
  • Proven success in acquiring external resources through fundraising, grants, and contracts.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Effectiveness in managing and strategically using budgets.
  • Background in advocating for alumni, donors, students, faculty, and staff.
