The Assistant Project Manager for Engineering & Construction is an entry-level or early-career role supporting the successful delivery of capital improvement and major repair projects. The Assistant PM works closely with the Project Team to assist in planning, design, engineering, and construction activities. This role includes hands-on management of small construction projects and offers valuable experience in overseeing short- and long-term infrastructure projects.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with the management/coordination of architecture, engineering, construction and building professionals.
- Facilitate internal and external stakeholders' engagement throughout the design and construction phases of the projects.
- Assist the Senior Project Managers with integrating technical activities related to planning, budgeting, design, and construction of medium-to-large architecture, engineering and building projects.
- Review project design and construction changes in conjunction with the Senior Project Managers.
- Assist with the preparation of project design and construction specifications, budgets, schedules, and concept solutions.
- Assist in managing project budgets, bids, and contracts.
- Participate in emergency response and recovery operations as needed. All CPA employees are considered essential during emergencies and may be subject to recall. An emergency event may include natural disasters, public health crises, or other urgent events. Employees may be expected to perform emergency and/or recovery operations outside of their normal assigned responsibilities and routine working hours.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical/Structural Engineering is required.
- Internship or professional experience in seaport, civil/structural engineering, or transportation projects is preferred but not required.
- 1 - 3 years of work-related experience with a design firm or construction company.
- Must have basic knowledge with CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, etc.), drafting, geometry, and spatial visualization
- Must have basic knowledge with construction scheduling software (Primavera preferred)
- Must have basic knowledge of Project Management Program software (Procore preferred)
- Must have effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Must be able to closely collaborate with project teams in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams)
- Florida Drivers License
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Ability to perform light physical tasks in both office and field environment.
- May involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials up to thirty (30) pounds
- Primarily office based with regular fieldwork at construction sites.
- Close collaboration with project teams in both indoor and outdoor settings.
