Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Teledata Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Teledata Technician, you will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and repairing fire and security systems. The ideal candidate will possess a fire alarm license and have expertise in programming fire alarm and security panels. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical layouts, building plans, and hands-on experience with the installation of wiring.
Responsibilities- Fire Alarm License:
Must possess a valid fire alarm license. - Installation and Maintenance:
Install, maintain, or repair fire and security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans. - Wiring and Panel Programming:
Mount and fasten control panels, fire alarm devices, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras. Attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components. Program fire alarm and security panels. - Customer Training:
Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms. Provide training to customers on system usage. - Testing and Repairs:
Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications. Test electrical circuits or components for proper functioning. Repair electrical circuits or wiring. - Installation Procedures:
Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets. Position and terminate cables, wires, or strapping. - Troubleshooting:
Examine systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken insulation. - System Checks:
Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, or other security features to ensure proper functioning or diagnose malfunctions. - Drilling and Inspections:
Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors. Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures. - Documentation:
Prepare documents, such as fire alarm inspection reports, invoices, or warranties. - Client Consultation:
Consult with clients to assess risks and determine security requirements. - Raceways and Conduits:
Mount raceways and conduits. Fasten wires to wood framing using staplers. - Adjustments and Updates:
Adjust sensitivity of units based on room structures and manufacturers recommendations using programming keypads. - Stay Informed:
Keep informed of new products and developments in the field. - Parts Management:
Order replacement parts as needed.
- Valid fire alarm license.
- Valid driver s license.
- Proven experience in programming fire alarm and security panels.
- Knowledge of electrical layouts, building plans, and wiring installation.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
