General

Statement of Duties

The Millwright Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, rebuilding, replacement, and adjustment of many types of equipment. An employee in this classification is responsible for the placement and alignment of equipment. The individual works under the supervision of the Superintendent of Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and/or a designee.

Distinguishing Features of the Class

Is responsible for maintaining and improving the equipment used in the operation of the Water Pollution Control Center.

Examples of Work
  • Repairs, rebuilds, replaces, adjusts, and makes other necessary changes to maintain or improve the operation of equipment such as pumps, motors, collectors, bar screens, boilers, air compressors, belt presses, incinerators, and a wide variety of other equipment.
  • As directed by supervision, responsible for repair, replacement, and changes in the piping systems.
  • Other related duties, not listed but consistent with and similar in nature to the above examples, may also be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of maintenance and millwright operations.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment problems and failures and make changes to prevent failure.
  • Ability to maintain, repair, rebuild, replace, and adjust many types of equipment.
  • Ability to use mechanical tools and equipment.
Acceptable Experience and Training
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in mechanical equipment repair and alignment of equipment.
  • Several years of practical related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Waste Water Treatment Incentive Pay

Waste Water Treatment incentive pay shall be paid to employee(s) in this classification provided the employee possesses a Class I, II, or III Certificate as issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and is an employee of WRF.

Eligibility List

Should ten or fewer qualified applications be received, names will be placed on an eligibility list in accordance with their application filing date. Should more than ten qualified applicants register for this examination, those applicants will be notified of the format, location, date, and time of the examination.

RATING

Your name will be placed on a list of eligible candidates upon receiving a passing score. Once the list has been established, your name will remain on the list for a period of one (1) year.
