CNC Machinist - Join a Leading Manufacturer with Cutting-Edge Technology

We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to join our dynamic team at Ohio Gratings Inc., where we provide opportunities for growth, hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment, and an environment that encourages innovation. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC and manual machine tools to produce precision parts with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, job shop setting.

You’ll work with a range of machine tools, from CNC lathes to multi-axis CNC machining centers, and utilize advanced G-code programming, blueprint reading, and GD&T knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • CNC Setup & Operation:
    Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines (lathes, mills) to complete precision machining tasks.
  • Quality Control:
    Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, and gauges) to inspect parts, ensuring they meet rigorous specifications. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any issues.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
    Read and interpret complex blueprints, job travelers, and layouts, applying knowledge of GD&T to ensure proper machining and measurements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Recommend and implement improvements to machine set-ups, production processes, and efficiency.
  • Production Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records in EPICOR, tracking time, quantity, and scrap data for all assigned work orders.
  • Machine Maintenance:
    Inspect and perform minor repairs on machinery to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Safety & Cleanliness:
    Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to set up and operate CNC and manual machine tools (lathes, mills).
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent time management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative work environment.
  • Familiarity with EPICOR or similar ERP systems is a plus.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational or technical training in Machining Technology or CNC Machining preferred.
  • Previous CNC machining experience in a job shop environment highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, hands-on environment with shifting priorities.
