Mechanical Repair – Maintenance Millwright
- Note:
As a union-based employer, we are unable to guarantee any shift preference following initial training on day shift. Shift preference is granted by seniority. All candidates should expect to work afternoon shift or night shift at some point following initial training.
Day Shift: Monday – Friday: 7 AM to 3 PM / 6 AM to 2 PM
Afternoon Shift: Monday – Friday: 3 PM to 11 PM / 2 PM to 10 PM
Night Shift: Sunday Night – Thursday Night: 11 PM to 7 AM / 10 PM to 6 AM

Position Overview
The Maintenance Millwright is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of complex mechanical systems and industrial equipment supporting a multi-department forging and manufacturing operation. This role requires a high level of mechanical skill, independent problem-solving ability, and the capability to work safely in demanding industrial environments, including extreme heat, confined spaces, and elevated work areas.
General Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of industrial mechanical equipment, including but not limited to:
Forging equipment and auxiliary systems;
Conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems; and Mechanical power transmission systems (belts, chains, couplings) - Diagnose mechanical failures using prints, manuals, schematics, and hands-on testing to determine root cause and corrective action.
- Perform precision mechanical work including alignment, fitting, fabrication, rigging, and assembly of equipment and components.
- Execute preventative and predictive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform corrective repairs under time-critical conditions.
- Safely operate shop equipment and tools including hoists, cranes, lifts, grinders, cutting tools, and measuring instruments.
- Work independently or as part of a maintenance team to complete assigned work orders and projects.
- Accurately document work performed, parts used, and equipment conditions per department procedures.
- Follow all safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and plant policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- 2+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance or millwright experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial mechanical systems with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
- Proficient in shop math, measurements, and mechanical tolerances.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and power-transmission systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand majority of shift.
- Job involves frequent standing, walking, twisting, turning, reaching, bending, climbing steps, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly throughout shift.
- Must be able to tolerate extreme heat in summer months and extreme cold during winter months.
