OVERVIEW
This position is responsible for providing direction for the operations of our Hatchery to all associates.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS- Supports the Safety and Supervision of the employees that work in the Hatchery. Ensure that the Hatchery Personnel follow our Animal Welfare guidelines.
- Ensure that operating costs of the Hatchery remain competitive compared against the industry.
- Follow D.O.T Regulations as well as Environmental Regulations.
- Reports egg fertility and hatch results for performance.
- Handle employees' schedules, approves vacations, employee discipline, and train new hires.
- Oversee and coordinate local egg deliveries and chick deliveries with both our company trucks/drivers and contract drivers.
- Oversee and if necessary, assist in the areas of clerical data input.
- Be able to perform all jobs within the hatchery in times of excessive absenteeism.
- 18 years old.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to manage, organize and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- A strong background in industrial maintenance is encouraged, though not required.
- A strong background in computers/software to utilize our internal monitoring systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people.
- Should be able to effectively identify key information from fertility/residue breakouts.
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- BA/BS Minimum (preferred).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing, work environment.
- Ability to stand, sit, squat, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stretch, walk, reach, twist, bend, grasp, use hands and fingers, handle objects or controls, talk, and hear.
- Agility to negotiate around moving machinery and people.
- Physical capabilities required in given department/assigned areas.
