Occupational Therapist – Part Time

Company: Alternate Solutions Health Network (Agency: Mercy Home Health)
Location: Alliance, Louisville, Carrollton, Minerva, Mineral City, New Philadelphia, etc.
Schedule: 3 days per week, 8:15 am – 5:00 pm

As an Occupational Therapist you will join an interdisciplinary team focused on providing compassionate, high‑quality care and driving positive outcomes for patients. You’ll deliver home‑based therapy, educate patients and families, and play a rewarding role in every step of the recovery journey.

How You'll Work

Provide comprehensive skilled services as ordered by the attending physician. Educate patients and families, ensure safety, complete accurate documentation, and remain compliant with all legal rules and regulations.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Plan of Care – Deliver skilled OT, observe and report patient reactions, develop individualized care plans and adjust as needed.
  • Evaluation – Assess patient functioning using diagnostic and prognostic procedures.
  • Patient Outcomes – Use activities and home exercise programs to improve range of motion, muscle strength and coordination through passive/active exercise.
  • Minimize Patient Risk – Teach patients preventive measures to reduce re‑hospitalizations.
  • Family Educator/Advocate – Counsel patients and families on disease/injury management and proper use of assistive devices.
  • Supervision – Oversee and supervise total patient care provided by a Certified OT Assistant (COTA).
  • Communication/Collaboration – Communicate with COTA about supervisory visit results.
  • Policies – Complete clinical documentation following agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines.
  • Rules and Regulations – Follow agency policies and procedures, and communicate schedule changes to schedulers or supervisors.
  • Operations – Attend in‑service training and mandatory agency meetings.

Requirements
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of employment.
  • Minimum one year of OT experience in an acute care setting (home‑care experience preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance in your name as a driver.
  • Capable of handling all physical demands of the role.
