Overview
Nursing Summary/ Purpose Of Position The primary purpose of the Unit Assistant is to perform clerical duties. The UA role involves answering phones, answering call lights, assisting physicians during their rounds, order entry, along with chart preparation and tear down.
Qualifications- High School Degree Required
- Clinical Experience Preferred
- Adheres to the hospital attendance policy and will make every effort to consistently be punctual when reporting to work and during daily activities.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Perform the responsibilities and expectations as described above.
- Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all communications.
- Communicates effectively with medical, nursing and interdepartmental staff.
- Participates in and supports hospital safety programs and initiatives.
- Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
- Exhibits High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools and tones.
- Responsible for timely review of emails, department communications and applicable learning assignments and completion as applicable.
- Other duties as assigned
- Proficient computer skills to complete tasks as required.
- Must be organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks and exhibit appropriate time management skills.
- Must be detail oriented while focusing on safe practices and quality care.
- Demonstrates effective communication.
- Effective appropriate and professional interactions with colleagues/physicians, patients and visitors.
- Varied locations and hours as required by the job
- Work weekends and holidays as assigned or as applicable based on department needs.
- Meal and break times are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
- Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
- Cross training depending upon department needs.
