Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a (position) to assist with our projects in Canton, MI!
Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Duties
- Log-in samples and consolidate by project and urgency.
- Scan and organize control documents.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment and reagents.
- Properly handle chemicals such as;
Hydrochloric Acid, Tetrahydra-Furan, Butane, etc. - Prepare and analyze bulk building materials (i.e. drywall systems, insulation, flooring, etc.) for asbestos analysis via Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
- Identify different types of asbestos, non-asbestos fibers, and other essential non-fibrous components.
- Assist with quality control activities for consistency and accuracy.
- Adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements (ISO 17025)
- Adhere to health and safety protocols, including using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean work station.
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology or another related field.
- Strong interest in laboratory work, environmental health, and safety.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Currently enrolled or graduated in a degree program in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology or another related field.
- Experience with technical equipment
- Experience in a laboratory setting
- Optical Mineralogy
- Microsoft Excel experience
