Job Title: Certified Teacher / Site Coordinator — Weis Summer Camp
Location: Weis Park, Canton, OH
Camp Dates: June 8th - July 31st, M-F
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Camp hours: 8:30am-3:00pm)
Training: Required training will take place prior to camp start date
Reports To: Community Center Manager, Canton Parks and Recreation
Pay Rate: $18.50/hour

To be eligible for the position, all applicants must be U.S. citizens or possess a valid permanent resident card and attach it to your application.
Applicants must also be a certified teacher through the State of Ohio.
This individual will lead the day-to-day planning and supervision of engaging, age-appropriate activities for youth participants. Held primarily outdoors at Weis Park, the camp includes weekly field trips, swimming, enrichment sessions with the library, and access to a variety of recreational amenities. The Site Coordinator will also supervise a team of 2—4 camp counselors.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the on-site leader responsible for the smooth daily operation of the camp
- Develop and implement structured weekly schedules that combine education, recreation, and enrichment
- Supervise and support 2—4 camp counselors to ensure positive camper engagement
- Facilitate collaboration with partners, including the Canton Natatorium and the adjacent
- Lead weekly activities, including outdoor games, arts & crafts, STEM challenges, and team-building exercises
- Coordinate and oversee field trips and swim days
- Ensure camper safety, monitor behavior, and maintain a fun and inclusive camp environment
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and camp leadership
- Maintain records, including attendance, incident reports, and supply needs
- Valid Ohio teaching license required (Grades PK—8 preferred)
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth development setting
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate and guide a small team of counselors
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Comfortable working outdoors and managing active youth programming
