We are seeking a Part-Time Criminal Court Researcher in Mississippi (Rankin & Madison Counties). Individuals must be authorized to work in the US, live within 30 minutes of the courthouse in Rankin & Madison Counties, and possess a valid driver’s license.
What You’ll DoOur Part‑Time Criminal Court Researcher serves as a traveling research role essential to completing criminal background checks at First Advantage. You’ll utilize investigative skills to research and collect criminal background information, prescreen applicants, review and interpret public records, and keep client workplaces safe. This role is focused on morning, independent work. A temporary gas stipend of $200 per jurisdiction monthly is provided.

HoursPart Time: 20 hours per week, typically 4 hours per day, Monday‑Friday, within morning courthouse hours (e.g., 8 am‑1 pm Central Time). Hours can vary within this window.
Requirements- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel daily to the courthouse(s).
- Residence within a 30‑minute commute to the courthouses.
- Reliable Wi‑Fi access at home and a document shredder.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to read legal documentation, experience in high‑level administration, legal court research, and/or professional work experience preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure with time‑sensitive projects.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of independent work while responding well to direction.
- Travel to assigned courthouses to research and review criminal and/or civil public record information from onsite electronic court systems; perform additional research as required from applicable websites.
- Interpret court records and other relevant information from courts and state agencies; document, edit, and modify results of searches from courts, agencies, repositories, and databases; communicate with courts and agencies to obtain additional information as necessary.
- Provide accurate and detailed results and case information to the CRRG via database integration or email.
- Conduct criminal background checks using various electronic public access systems at criminal courthouses.
- Utilize public access criminal court record information (via phone, fax, web, Wi‑Fi) to conduct criminal history searches.
- Verify information for criminal records and forward results via scanning and uploading search results.
- Investigate and provide updates on new and/or improved methods of performing criminal background checks.
Approximately $16.00 USD per hour. Salary is based on experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors considered during the interview process.
