Position

As a PH Advanced Practice RN within the Cherokee County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location:

Cherokee County Health Department in Canton, GA.

Job Responsibilities
  • Under supervision of a senior APRN, perform advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas.
  • Operate under a written nurse protocol agreement with their delegating physician.
  • Conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, and counsel clients. May prescribe medication in some cases.
  • Provide family planning/women’s health clinical services in Cherokee County at the Canton and Woodstock clinics.
  • Examine clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests as indicated.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Instruct and counsel clients regarding women’s health, family planning, contraceptive options and effectiveness, health maintenance, and prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients.
  • Obtain, compile, and record client medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, IUD and implant insertions.
  • Prescribe therapy or medication according to protocol.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Public health experience.
  • Women’s health experience.
  • Experience with insertion of IUDs and implants.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
