Shift/Schedule
:
Days – 3 12‑hour shifts or 4 10‑hour shifts available.
The Medical Assistant functions under the direction of physicians and other healthcare staff. Recognizes patient needs, assists during examinations and treatments, coordinates tests, follows up on care, and documents treatment in the medical record. Demonstrates competency in serving patients of all ages, including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Performs related front‑office registration, laboratory testing, and radiology functions within a specialty setting.
CoreResponsibilities and Essential Functions
- Register patients upon entrance to the facility.
- Perform all necessary registration operations.
- Prepare equipment and rooms and aid physicians with patient treatment.
- Perform vitals and other duties to prep patients.
- Rotate among lab, x‑ray, and front office service areas.
- Ensure primary patient safety needs.
- Cross‑train other team members.
- Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Prepare and position patients for imaging ensuring proper techniques and radiation protection.
- Obtain optimum views as ordered.
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
- Maintain logs, reports, and documentation.
- Start lab equipment and maintain logs.
- Perform laboratory tests per orders and instructions.
- Draw blood samples and perform point‑of‑care testing.
- Order and stock supplies weekly.
- Perform daily quality control and cleaning per guidelines.
- Provide relationship‑based patient‑centered care, adapting to cultural diversity.
- Partner with patient and family using appropriate communication methods.
- Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care.
- Collaborate through huddles, interdisciplinary rounds, and documentation.
- Complete all initial and ongoing competence assessments and education.
- Serve as preceptor for onboarding Medical Assistants/students when required.
- Promote evidence‑based practice and participate in value analysis.
- Uphold all system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies.
- Participate in data collection and consult experts for practice questions.
- Plan care across the continuum and support efficient use of resources.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred; new & accredited program candidates also preferred.
Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications- Certified Medical Assistant
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor
Complete OSHA training for radiology equipment operators within 60 days. Pass a Medical Assistant credentialing body examination (AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT) and maintain credential upon hire.
Required Minimum Experience- Practice setting experience preferred. Radiology experience preferred and/or provided training within 60 days.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred and/or training within 60 days.
- Organized and detail‑oriented.
- Efficient in providing patient comfort and satisfaction.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English, basic computer skills.
