Master’s degree or higher and a valid Georgia teaching certificate (S-5 or above) as required by the Professional Standards Commission.

GOAL

Ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan collaboratively with teachers for the teaching of information skills and the integration of literature, resources and information literacy skills into the curriculum.
  • Use appropriate instructional technology and a variety of research-based instructional strategies and resources, effectively to enhance student learning.
  • Provide students with information and resources that promote independent and life‑long learning.
  • Promote the effective use of information technologies in learning and teaching.
  • Foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas.
  • Assist students and staff with production using multimedia technologies.
  • Select resources for the media center based on curriculum needs.
  • Maintain a media collection that is diverse in format and content to support the needs of a wide variety of students.
  • Organize all resources for effective and efficient use by students and staff.
  • Provide flexible access to the programs and services of the media center.
  • Manage budget scheduling, supervision, facilities and all other aspects of the daily operation of the media program.
  • Maintain the automated circulation and catalog databases.
  • Promote the media program.
  • Provide information about and comply with copyright laws.
  • Serve on school-wide committees as requested.
  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.
  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.
  • Implement appropriate school safety measures and crisis emergency plans to create and sustain a secure and healthy learning environment consistent with District rules, policies and procedures.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with federal and State laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established State and local policies, regulations and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents or guardians, District and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.
  • Perform professionally and efficiently, other duties as assigned.
