Registered Nurse

Canterbury College is a high‑performing, award‑winning Anglican ELC to 12 school, serving the dynamic growth corridor of Logan, northern Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim and southern Brisbane.

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate College Nurse to join our Care Central Team on a fixed term contract basis until December 2026. As the College Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in caring for our students and providing a comprehensive range of support services to students, teachers, parents and non‑teaching professionals of the school.

Your Role:

You will be responsible for delivering a professional, efficient and effective health care service to the College by providing direct medical care support, including triaging students, staff, visitors and contractors reporting to the Care Central medical bay. This role offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and the wider community.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responding to calls for support, administering first aid and distributing medication.
  • Maintaining accurate records regarding the above processes.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of first aid kits and College medical supplies.
  • Supporting the development and management of medical policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Making or delegating related calls to parents.
  • Assisting in the maintenance and coordination of the Care Central medical bay.
  • Maintaining appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
  • Providing health advice regarding the management of student health needs to staff as applicable.
  • Taking an active role in the sports program of the school including assistance with major injuries at training or at matches.
  • Consulting with parents/guardians regarding illness/injury related matters.
  • Maintaining well‑documented health records on all students including medical history, incidents and treatment reporting.
  • Providing direct supervision to the enrolled nurse.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A caring, responsible nature and the ability to provide the highest quality of care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, work quickly and efficiently, be organised and work as part of a team.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 6 months of practical work experience.
  • Should be familiar with the state and territory drugs and poisons legislation, and relevant health department and health service policy requirements as well as relevant workplace policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job in a safe manner.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, or a strong interest in schools.
  • Diabetes Management training (preferred).

Essential

Qualifications:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Current Registration with AHPRA and any other applicable Registrations.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
