About The Role

Can you help turn learning into a two-way conversation? As a Communication Learning Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in ensuring deaf and hearing‑impaired students can fully access, engage with and thrive in their learning. You will provide high‑quality British Sign Language (BSL) support across a range of programmes and courses, helping students to communicate confidently and participate fully in college life.

• Deliver clear and accurate BSL signing in learning environments
• Use a range of creative support strategies to adapt tasks, resources and activities
• Encourage and motivate students to develop independence and confidence
• Work closely with ALS tutors and teaching staff to tailor support effectively
• Contribute to EHCP in‑year reviews for students with hearing impairment
• Attend and support communication in annual reviews
• Act as an advocate for students, helping their voices be heard

Each Monday plus one half day during the week

£7,385 (inc holiday pay)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to provide high‑quality BSL support to learners with a hearing impairment who are studying on mainstream courses. You will be a motivated and imaginative signer, qualified to a minimum of Level 3 in BSL, with a genuine passion for helping students succeed. You will nurture positive attitudes to learning and play a key role in achieving the very best outcomes for our students.

• Provide clear and effective BSL signing support to individuals and groups
• Enable learners to fully access their curriculum and college experience
• Inspire confidence, independence and engagement in learning
• Work closely with teaching staff and support teams to tailor support
• Make a meaningful contribution to the development of teaching and learning across EKC Group
• Use your understanding of additional learning support to remove barriers and unlock potential

• Supporting with personal care
• Assisting with mobility
• Meeting specific medical or feeding needs
