As a Lecturer of Early Years at EKC Canterbury College
, you will teach, train and assess students across a range of learning environments, delivering a high quality and engaging learning experience. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of Early Years practitioners, combining industry knowledge with inspiring teaching to help learners succeed.

Your role will include:

  • Delivering high quality teaching, training and assessment across Early Years programmes
  • Supporting learners to achieve their maximum potential through guidance, mentoring and pastoral support
  • Leading on designated study programmes and or courses as appropriate
  • Designing, delivering and evaluating programmes to ensure continuous improvement and strong outcomes
  • Creating engaging lessons that link theory to practical Early Years settings
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to enhance the learner experience

Hours per week: 26 (Mon, Tues and Fri, includes one evening per week)

Salary per year: £25,374 up to £27,798

Contract start: 1st May 2026

About You

You will be highly organised, creative and be able to plan and teach engaging and innovative lessons with demonstrated interpersonal skills. Assessing and tracking student progress, to further plan intervention this will be a vital part of the role and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed.

What are we looking for?

  • High organisation and creative skills, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support learners.
  • Able to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experienced in assessing, monitoring, and tracking student progress to inform planning and targeted interventions.

You will need to have recent teaching experience or hold a recognised teaching qualification. Knowledge and experience of teaching on the T Level Early Years qualification (Occupational Specialism Early Years Educator) is essential as the allocated teaching will be on this qualification. In addition you should hold a relevant assessors qualification as this will support the requirement the applicants ability to also conduct formal observation assessments as part of the qualification.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval).

Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
