An opportunity exists for a passionate kaiako to join the Forfar team.

We are a community centre dedicated to providing high-quality care and education. Located in St Albans, Christchurch, our centre operates from a homely villa with a spacious natural outdoor play area. We are licensed for 32 preschool and 14 nursery children and are open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm daily.

Our practices reflect our Philosophy values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, mahi tahi, ako, and kaitiakitanga, which are integrated throughout our centre to enrich the learning and wellbeing of our tamariki.

About the role

  • This is a fixed-term position while undertaking training towards an ECE qualification.
  • Approximately 12–16 hours per week (two days), with the opportunity to pick up extra casual hours.
  • The role involves covering breaks across both the nursery and preschool in the morning and working in the nursery in the afternoon.

We are looking for a kaiako who:

  • Is currently training towards a recognised ECE qualification.
  • Is enthusiastic about learning and growing as a teacher.
  • Is kind, caring, and self-motivated.
  • Has strong communication skills and values nurturing relationships with tamariki and whānau.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Ideally has experience working in an ECE centre with both preschoolers and infants/toddlers.

We are an experienced, supportive, and fun teaching team who work collaboratively to nurture and care for our tamariki.
