Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch. The school is a fast-growing Year 7–13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have a roll of around 1400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase in the next few years. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.
Join our thriving middle school! Hillmorton High School is looking for a fixed-term, part time (0.35 FTTE) Year 8 teacher to cover a member of staff on PCT learning hours. As our school continues to grow, we need an experienced educator who can hit the ground running within a Year 8 class.
Our Year 7-8 department operates some collaborative teaching spaces. We require a professional who understands how to use shared spaces effectively. You will use diverse collaborative strategies to differentiate instruction and engage all learners.
Person requirements:
- Collaborative strategies:
Expertise in co-planning and executing lessons within a shared environment. You must be comfortable with the lead and support and alternative teaching models of collaboration. - Literacy:
Experience or training in structured literacy is preferred. - Relational Practice:
High competency in culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential. - Experience:
Preference for an experienced teacher who can contribute immediately to our energetic and diverse team.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.
The successful applicant must be an NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme also.
