This role would suit a part-time teacher who is keen to interact with and develop learning programmes specifically for our visiting international students. The learning programme can be designed to suit your own teaching strengths, but should be planned to meet the needs and interests of visiting international students with regard to understanding NZ culture.
This may look like lessons in NZ geography and history for example, but would also sit well with a thematic approach such as NZ’s wool industry (making links to literature, mathematics, agriculture and social sciences). An important aspect of the programme would include introductory Te Reo and tikanga. Practical aspects are encouraged such as baking a mini pavlova, hokey pokey or building a possum trap.
Art and music could also be considered if these were in the teacher’s range.
The class timetable is already established:
Week 1:
Tuesdays 2.10-3.10pm and Fridays 10-11am
Week 2:
Wednesdays 12.30 - 1.30pm and Fridays 9-10am.
A job-sharing arrangement would be considered.
Applicants should hold current NZ Teaching Council Registration.
