Join our Foundations and Pathways Portfolio that empowers learners by building essential academic, digital, and study skills. Programmes are inclusive and flexible, focusing on learner confidence, engagement, and progression, and serve as accessible pathways into higher-level study.

As a Maths tutor you will primarily be responsible for the delivery of Mathematics and Statistics courses in a wide range of qualifications, from Foundation to Degree level, ensuring that the delivery of the learning outcomes is of a standard that meets and exceeds student expectations. You will work co-operatively and collaboratively with team members, managers and stakeholders to achieve the Portfolio’s objectives and the Ara mission and vision.

We have a range of hours available, between 8–28 per week during term time. Please indicate your preferred weekly hours within this range in your cover letter when applying.

Responsibilities
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably one that includes mathematics.
  • Current industry/discipline knowledge.
  • Experience in mathematics teaching to adults.
  • Competence and flexibility to teach mathematics and statistics in the diverse Ara contexts, in a wide range of levels, served by the maths team.
  • An interest in/experience using a range of teaching methods and technologies in a tertiary setting.
  • Vision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and others’ learning.
  • Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively and co-operatively, contributes to teams.
  • Embraces Ara values/ mātāpono and Kaupapa.
