Diesel Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, trucks, and equipment

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools

• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify needed repairs or safety concerns

• Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, and fuel systems

• Perform preventive maintenance services according to manufacturer guidelines

• Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation

• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company procedures

• Communicate repair needs and timelines with supervisors or customers

• Keep work area clean and organized

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred)

• Proven experience as a Diesel Technician or Mechanic

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment systems

• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment

• Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus, if applicable)

• Ability to lift heavy components and work in various conditions

Preferred Skills

• ASE Diesel Certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Experience with fleet maintenance

• Welding or fabrication experience

• Strong problem-solving and time-management skills

Work Environment

• Shop and/or field-based work

• May require standing, lifting, bending, and working in loud environments

• Possible overtime or on-call work depending on business needs
