Description

ViVitro Labs is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and curious Quality Assurance Co-op Student to join our team in Victoria, BC. This role is an excellent opportunity for a student eager to apply academic knowledge to real-world quality and regulatory challenges within an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory and medical device test equipment development environment.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the QA Co-op Student will support the maintenance and continuous improvement of ViVitro’s Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 17025:2017, internal procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role offers hands-on exposure to quality assurance activities across laboratory testing and test equipment development.

Term Details:

  • Expected term length: 8 months (May – December 2026)

  • Hourly rate for 3rd-year students: $24.99
  • Hourly rate for 4th-year students: $26.14
  • What You’ll Learn:

  • How QMS works and how ISO 17025 is applied in a real laboratory
  • How audits, CAPA, and document control work in practice
  • Exposure to quality practices in a regulated testing environment
  • Technical insight on the medical device industry
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the management and maintenance of ViVitro’s ISO 17025 Quality Management System
  • Provide quality assurance support for cardiovascular testing activities and equipment development projects
  • Review test protocols and test reports from the Laboratory Department to support compliance with ISO 17025 and regulatory requirements
  • Review, author, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and quality forms with guidance from the team
  • Participate in internal audits, including preparation of audit documentation, reports, and follow-up activities
  • Track and support resolution of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and Engineering Change Requests (ECR)
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of quality manuals, procedures, standards, and engineering and laboratory work instructions
  • Perform document control activities, ensuring documents are reviewed, approved, released, and maintained in accordance with QMS requirements
  • Perform document archiving and ensure record retention requirements are met
  • Communicate procedural changes and updates across departments, including Laboratory, Product Development, and Operations
  • Support other QA initiatives and related duties as assigned
  • Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary program in engineering, science, or a related technical discipline
  • Working knowledge or academic exposure to Quality Management Systems
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025:2017 requirements is a strong advantage
  • Experience or coursework related to mechanical testing is an asset
  • Enrollment in or completion of a Quality Assurance certificate program is an asset
  • Willingness to learn
  • Interest in quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
