Work where conservation happens. Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) is hiring seasonal technicians to support Fisheries, Wildlife, and Land Management programs across Alberta from May to August 2026, with possible extensions.
ResponsibilitiesJoin the Fisheries, Wildlife, or Land Management team and take part in hands‑on conservation work across Alberta’s wild landscapes. Your role may include conducting habitat assessments, inspecting and maintaining conservation and fisheries access sites, and assisting with wildlife monitoring in the field. You will work closely with project leads and supervisors based in offices throughout the province, while following ACA health and safety standards.
This position involves extensive travel throughout Alberta, with accommodations, meals, and vehicles provided. Expect to work in rugged terrain, changing and sometimes challenging weather, and during long or irregular hours. Successful candidates will thrive in camp environments, stay organized in dynamic field conditions, and take pride in collecting accurate, high‑quality field data that supports real conservation outcomes.
Qualifications- Acquired or ongoing biological, conservation sciences or natural resources degree or technical diploma.
- Strong planning and time management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, operate a compass, and handheld GPS unit.
- Basic computer and software skills (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (must supply driver abstract before start date).
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR, WHMIS, and Defensive Driving certificates.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to record data neatly.
- Independent, show attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills.
- Other skills, such as GIS, acoustic recording analysis, and data entry.
- Strong background in hunting, fishing, ranching, or farming.
- Wildlife, fish, and habitat identification skills.
