Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing education program required.
- Leads training preferred or combination of Leads and or leadership training courses.
- Current registration in good standing with CLPNM.
- Certifications preferred depending on the clinical area.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training as delineated in Prairie Mountain Health Policy PPG-00002 CPR Training.
- Successful completion of an Accredited Emergency or Critical Care Course
- Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
- Current certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course
- Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale course
- Minimum three years within the past 5 years recent related nursing experience and demonstrated strong leadership skills in the applicable area.
- Successful completion of a relevant post basic program may be required or preferred in designated areas.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position.
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
Under the general supervision of, and in collaboration with the manager, the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN)/Charge Nurse is responsible for providing clinical leadership and daily supervision to nurses and, as relevant, to other members of the inter-disciplinary collaborative team. The CRN assumes a leadership role in coordinating patient/resident/client care within the healthcare team to ensure quality patient/resident/client care outcomes and promotes an interdisciplinary patient/resident/client centered approach to care based on best practice.
The CRN/Charge Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the region/facility/unit.
The CRN/Charge Nurse assists with the clinical direction, guidance, and contributes to the assessment and evaluation of the clinical practice of staff in collaboration with the manager and in accordance with accepted Standards of Nursing Practice.
