Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Wrinch Memorial Hospital.
In accordance with the established mission, vision and values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff.
Reporting to the Program Lead or Designate and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention.
The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Northern Health (NH) and established protocols. Participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing, and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents. Participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences and assists with orientation of new staff and students as required.
Responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed.
Wrinch Memorial Hospital Teaching is a time-honored tradition at Wrinch Memorial hospital. There is an ongoing rotation of Medical Students, Nurse Practitioner Students and Medical Residents. It serves a population of 8,000 with:
• Nine Complex Care beds
• One Respite bed
• 13 Acute Care beds
• Dental Clinic
• Laboratory
• Wrinch Medical Clinic
• One secure psychiatric observation room
• Medical Imaging, including ultrasound
• Retail Pharmacy On-site
